Societal Shifts and Fashion Fads: American Women’s Fashion 1918-1980       

Advisor: Dr. Elizabeth Gritter, Indiana University Southeast

  • Developed a discourse examining the functionality, aesthetic appeal, and the major shifts in trends of American women’s fashion made from 1918-1980, therefore establishing that these dramatic shifts occurred due to political and social changes. These shifts were often because of or in response to the dominating patriarchal society in America during this time.

Examining Espionage: Culper Spy Ring, 1778-1780

  • Studies the development and accomplishments of the Culper Spy Ring, which operated in New York City and on Long Island during the American Revolutionary War.
  • Conference Paper presented at the IUS Undergraduate Research Conference 2017, Continued research for the President’s Scholars Summer Research Fellowship.

 

Battle for the Black Hills: The Legal Clash Between the Sioux Nation and The United States

  • Took a legal history approach in examining the ongoing struggle for the land known as the Black Hills.

 

A Paradox Unraveled: Women’s Autonomy in Colonial VA               

Advisor: Dr. Steven Peach, Tarleton State University, Dr. Kelly Ryan, Indiana University Southeast

  • Examined how both indigenous and European women functioned in society and maintained their autonomy in a patriarchal society. This autonomy paradoxically depended upon, challenged, and reinforced patriarchy.
